Core Range - Laminated Plywood

Our Laminated Plywood range has been inspired by the simplicity and timelessness of architecturally designed Modernist kitchens of the 60s and 70s.  It marries high quality counter-top grade laminate with a substrate of responsible birch plywood, the best plywood in the world for joinery, with the edge laminations left expressed.  The result is a beautiful panel that is very robust and long lasting, tolerant to the exuberance of family life.  An honest and practical material.  Available for doors, drawer faces, panels, kick-boards and counter-tops.  Can be ordered in white or black laminate with any of the four Core Handle designs, including the 'Hole' designed in collaboration with Interia.

Product Information

Drawer Fronts, Doors and Panels

You can order the Laminated Plywood Core Range in all of the sizes required to fit the METOD kitchen carcass system from IKEA.

The fronts are made from 15mm 'A/B Grade' Chain of Custody Certified Birch Plywood with Multiedge Laminations, surfaced on the front and back faces with 1.2mm thick counter-top grade laminate.  Total thickness of the panel is approximately 18mm.  The surfacing of the laminate is done under high pressure to ensure lifetime bonding.  The Chain of Custody Certification ensures the plywood has been sourced from responsible forestry practices.

The fronts are available 'Straight off the Saw' requiring sanding and finishing to the edges or 'Edge Finished' where all edges have been sanded and finished with two coats of a natural hardwax.

The laminate is available in White and Black colourways with custom colours available by request with an increased minimum purchase required (see order sheet).

If you need doors 140cm tall or more, we recommend ordering an MDF laminated door with sympathetic edging, to avoid too much movement in the door (see 'A Word About PLY'). We can still supply you with tall plywood doors, but at your own risk.

Available handles for the Laminated Plywood Core Range are as follows:

'Finger Pull' - a circular cut out approx. 40mm diameter, suitable for doors or drawers (see image above)

'Cut Out' - a rectangular cut out at top of door or drawer 130mm wide x 28mm deep

'Hole' - a solid timber sleeve for finger pull, designed in collaboration with Interia, available in Blackbutt, Celery Top Pine or Oak (see main image above)

'Plain Door' - no cut outs in door or drawer face, suitable for IKEA push to open system or to apply your own handle

For further information about handles - see Handles

You can order the Laminated Plywood Core Range in panels suitable for counter-tops. Counter-top panel thicknesses available are approximately 18mm (substrate of 15mm birch ply) and 32mm (substrate of 30mm birch ply).  We do not recommend overhanging the 18mm thick counter-top by more than 20mm, and the 32mm thick counter-top by more than 200mm.

The range of Laminated Plywood Counter-tops are also suitable for pairing with the Linoleum Surfaced Plywood and Natural Plywood ranges.
